Thinking of stopping smoking – look what happens to your body

Why bother stopping smoking?

The only reason smokers continue to smoke is because of their beliefs about smoking. Beliefs are incredibly powerful, it’s your beliefs that caused you to have your first cigarette all those years ago. Since then although you know that smoking is damaging your body you may have found yourself closing your mind to the dangers and diseases.

Perhaps you find yourself wanting to stop smoking on cancer awareness days or national stop smoking day. Maybe you promise you will stop smoking every year as a new Year’s resolution. But fear takes hold and you decide now is not the right time!

Fearful of coping with life without smoking?

Perhaps you feel afraid of stopping smoking, believing that social events will never be the same again without a cigarette, or perhaps you believe that you need a cigarette in times of stress or anxiety.

Well believe it or not, once you change your beliefs, stopping smoking is a lot easier than you think – not to mention one of the best things you can do for you, for your pride, for your confidence, for your health and for your wallet! Social events will in fact be more enjoyable and contrary to popular belief your stress levels will actually decrease as you become calmer and more relaxed.

Look what happens within weeks of stopping smoking…

  • Minutes – Within 20 minutes of stopping smoking your blood pressure and pulse will return to normal …
  • Hours – Within 8 hours of quitting smoking your bloodstream will benefit from having 50% less nicotine and the poisonous gas carbon monoxide …
  • Days – As a smoker your risk of having a heart attack is 70% more than that of a non smoker. Within 2 days of stopping smoking that risk will already start to decrease …
  • Days – within days your sense of smell and taste will improve …
  • Days – Within days of stopping smoking your breathing will improve as your airways relax and will continue to improve …
  • Days – within days you will enjoy more energy and better quality sleep …
  • Weeks – within just 2 weeks of stopping smoking the circulation of your blood improves and continues to do so …

Just months after stopping smoking…

  • Months – although your cough may worsen during the first few weeks as your body rids itself of mucus and smoking debris, within just a few months of quitting smoking, respiratory problems such as coughing and breathing will improve dramatically …
  • Months – within 9 months your lung capacity will improve by 10% and you will notice a considerable improvement in physical activity such as walking, running, even going up and down the stairs …

And after one year of stopping smoking…

ONE YEAR! – your risk of getting a stroke decreases to that of someone who has never smoked!

Aside from these health benefits (which continue to increase), you can join the hundreds of smokers I treat every year at my practice and enjoy a host of other benefits…

  • Increased self esteem as you feel a huge sense of pride and achievement no longer feeling silly or guilty
  • A lovely feeling of optimism about your future as you rid yourself of those worrying black shadows in the back of your mind
  • You will be more confident and empowered having conquered your ‘everest’
  • Increase in relaxation as your stress levels improve leaving you feeling just great as a happy, contented non smoker

Listen to people I’ve helped in these short videos This is what Greg had to say following his Stop Smoking session with me –

“Well it is now coming up to 4 weeks since I saw Claire. I had been a smoker for a long time, and no matter what I tried I just could not give up.
The NHS gave me all the usual things, patches, gum, nasal spray, inhalators, etc. But nothing worked; I was even smoking with 2 patches on my arm.
I had a spell in hospital and, I even found a way of smoking in there.
So my last resort was to see Claire, I’ve never tried Hypnotherapy before, and was a little nervous but, Claire put me at my ease.
She is very easy to talk to, and everything she tells you makes sense.
Nicotine is Not addictive, it’s a HABIT.
If it is addictive why am I not gagging for a smoke?
I had one session with Claire which lasted for 1 ¾ hours, and when I came out I was a non-smoker, and still am, worth every penny.
Am I getting anything for putting this on Facebook, the answer is NO.
I am so grateful to be able to say to people that I DON’T SMOKE, BRILLIANT.
Thank you Claire”
